Founding Story
You're finally on vacation, stepping onto the sandy shore, when suddenly the gentle lapping of the sea is interrupted by something wrapping around your calf. Is it seaweed? A jellyfish? No, it's a six-pack plastic ring!
A similar experience happened to one of E6PR’s (Eco Six Pack Ring) co-founders, which sparked a pivotal question: How can we create an alternative to plastic packaging? With this mission in mind, he approached Juan Francisco García, co-founder and now COO of E6PR. Together, they embarked on a journey to conceptualize and craft a sustainable packaging solution.
After numerous iterations, they achieved a high-performance, biodegradable and compostable solution made from plant fibers. The first prototype debuted at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered acclaim, earning three Cannes Lions awards, including the prestigious Gold Cannes Lion for Product Innovation. The innovation quickly gained traction on the news and social media, underscoring its potential to revolutionize the packaging and beverage industry.
Reflecting on this achievement in an interview with National Geographic, Juan Francisco García remarked, "We realized that we had created not just a product, but an opportunity to transform an entire industry”.
Following a meticulous two-year development process focusing on product performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, the official market launch occurred in January 2018 in partnership with Saltwater Brewery, based in Florida, USA.
Since then, a growing demand for E6PR's sustainable Eco-Holders has spurred strategic partnerships with distributors and third-party logistics (3PL) services in the US, Canada, and Ireland. These collaborations ensure timely delivery to customers at competitive prices.
Throughout this journey, E6PR has honed a range of application tools tailored to accommodate various canning speeds, ranging from manual press applicators to fully automated high-speed systems capable of handling up to 2,400 cans per minute.
E6PR remains committed to advancing sustainable packaging solutions for a brighter, eco-friendly future.
